The Painters Desk (paintersdesk.com) is run by AK Tabletop Studio. This page explains what we store when you use the site, why, and how to remove it.
You can use the colour wheel without an account. It runs in your browser and nothing you pick on it is sent to us. The site saves a copy of itself on your device so it works offline. There are no adverts or tracking cookies.
To know how the site is used, we count visits anonymously: which page or section was opened, the hour it was opened, and the website that linked you here (its name only, like google.com). To count how many different people visited in a day, we combine your IP address and browser type with a random value that changes every day and scramble (hash) the result. Your IP address itself is never stored, the scrambled value can't be turned back into it, and the daily random value is deleted after two days so visits on different days can't be linked. No cookies are used for this and it isn't linked to your account.
You can create an account with your email and a password, or sign in with Google, Discord or GitHub. With email and password we store your email, the display name you choose, and a scrambled (salted PBKDF2) form of your password that can't be turned back into the password.
When you sign in with Google, Discord or GitHub, your first sign-in creates your account. From that service we receive and store:
We never see or store your password for those services. You can change your display name and picture later.
About your account: a link to confirm your email address when you sign up, and a password reset link when you ask for one.
About new features, only if you ask: if you tick "Email me when new features go live" (when you sign up, on your account page, or when the site asks you once), we may email you about new features, a few times a year at most. It's off unless you turn it on, and we only send it to a confirmed address. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn it off on your account page at any time. We don't send other marketing and never share or sell your address.
Emails are delivered by Cloudflare Email Service (cloudflare.com), or by Resend (resend.com) as a backup, which receive your email address and the message to send it.
The Feedback button sends us your message, the type you pick, the page you were on, the email address you choose to give (if any) and, if you're signed in, your account. We keep it to read and reply to, and email it to ourselves. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, only to stop one sender flooding the form. Feedback is never shown on the site.
The Report link sends us what you're reporting, the reason you pick, any details you add and, if you're signed in, your account. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, only to stop one sender flooding reports. The person you report isn't told who reported them.
Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. A short-lived cookie is also used during sign-in to protect it from forgery. Neither is used for tracking or advertising.
Everything is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the site, in their database and file storage. We don't sell or share your information with anyone else, and we use it only to run the site. The site's moderators can hide or remove photos, recipes and comments, and block accounts, that break the site rules.
You can edit or delete your recipes, photos and comments at any time. To delete everything, open your account page and choose Delete my account. This permanently removes your account, profile, password, sign-in links, collection, recipes, photos and comments.
Accounts are for people aged 13 and over.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
